How we rank our tables
We rank Cash ISA tables by rate and check every account by hand. This page sets out exactly how, what we leave out, and how platform fee tables work.

What we compare
We publish two kinds of table. Cash ISA tables compare savings rates on deposit accounts. Platform fee tables compare what it costs to hold a Stocks and Shares ISA on different platforms. The two are never mixed together.
How we rank Cash ISA tables
Cash ISA tables are ranked by rate, highest first: AER for standard accounts, and expected profit rate for Islamic (halal) accounts, shown in a table of their own rather than mixed in with AER figures. Where two accounts show the same rate, the one with the lower minimum deposit is listed first.
Commission has no part in this order. See how we make money.
What's in, and what's out
To appear in a Cash ISA table, an account has to be all three of these:
- Open to new customers. Closed or legacy accounts you can no longer apply for are left out.
- Offered by a UK-regulated deposit-taker. A bank, building society or credit union authorised to accept deposits in the UK.
- FSCS-protected. Covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000 per person, per authorised firm (raised from £85,000 on 1 December 2025).
How platform fee tables work
For Stocks and Shares ISA platforms, we take each platform's own published charges and work out what its annual platform fee actually costs in pounds at a small number of set portfolio sizes. That lets you compare a flat fee against a tiered percentage fee on equal terms. Dealing charges and fund costs are shown separately, not folded into the platform fee figure, because they depend on how often you trade and which funds you hold.
How often we check, and how to report an error
We check every rate and every platform's charges by hand, directly on the provider's own website. This is not an automatic or daily feed: every table shows the date we last checked it, so you can see how fresh a figure is. Rates and charges can change between our checks, so always confirm the current number on the provider's own site before you apply.
If you think a number is wrong or out of date, tell us. See corrections for how.
