Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data ISA Comparison collects when you use this site, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We collect very little: mainly your email address if you sign up to our newsletter.

Who we are

ISA Comparison runs isacomparison.com and is the controller for personal data collected through this site, under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). What we collect, and why

Newsletter sign-ups. If you sign up to our newsletter, we store your email address, the date and time you signed up, and the page you signed up on. We store this in Cloudflare Workers KV, a database operated by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we delete your details on request or after you unsubscribe.

Abuse prevention on the sign-up form. To stop the same visitor submitting the newsletter form over and over in a short space of time, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for about 10 minutes. A one-way hash cannot be turned back into your IP address, and we do not store your raw IP address ourselves. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the sign-up form.

Emails you send us. If you email hello@isacomparison.com, we keep that email for as long as we need to deal with your message. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in handling correspondence sent to us.

Hosting and security. Cloudflare, our hosting provider, serves this site and protects it from abuse and attacks. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical data, such as IP addresses, under its own terms. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.

Calculators. Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. Whatever you type into a calculator is not sent to us and is not stored anywhere.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not set cookies for tracking or advertising. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless: it does not set a cookie on your device and does not build an individual profile of you. Our lawful basis, if we use it, is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.

Outbound and affiliate links. When you click a link to a provider, including any link marked "Ad", you leave this site. The provider, or an affiliate network working with them, may set its own cookies on its own site, under its own cookie policy. We don't control those cookies, and this policy doesn't cover them.

Social media. We have profiles on Instagram (instagram.com/isacomparison), Facebook (facebook.com/isacomparison) and LinkedIn (linkedin.com/company/isa-comparison). If you follow or interact with us on those platforms, that platform's own privacy policy applies to what it collects, not this one.

Who we share data with

Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this site, stores newsletter sign-ups in Workers KV, and, if we use it, runs our analytics, all as our processor acting on our instructions. We don't share your personal data with anyone else, and we never sell personal data.

International transfers

Cloudflare operates a global network, so the personal data described above can be processed outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, appropriate safeguards are in place under Cloudflare's own data processing terms, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable. Email us if you would like more detail about a specific transfer.

How long we keep it

We keep newsletter sign-up details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep the one-way hash used for abuse prevention for about 10 minutes. We keep emails sent to hello@isacomparison.com for as long as we need to deal with them. Cloudflare keeps hosting and security data for as long as it needs to, to keep the site running and secure, under its own terms.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal data we hold, including relying on the security measures Cloudflare provides to host and protect this site. Access to data such as newsletter sign-ups is limited to what is needed to run the site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:

  • give you access to the personal data we hold about you
  • rectify it, if it's wrong or incomplete
  • erase it
  • restrict how we use it
  • stop using it, where you object to how we use it
  • give you a copy in a portable, machine-readable format

Where we rely on your consent, such as the newsletter, you can withdraw that consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email hello@isacomparison.com. We reply within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first at hello@isacomparison.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by phone on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 18. Our Junior ISA pages are written for parents and guardians, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make an important change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
