Transferring an ISA to or from Lloyds
All 5 of Lloyds' adult Cash ISAs accept transfers in from other providers.
How to move an ISA to Lloyds
- You need a Lloyds ISA before an ISA from another provider can be transferred in, and the transfer is started from the Lloyds ISA in the app or online banking.
- If your other provider is not listed online, you can download and print an ISA Transfer Authority form or call Lloyds for a paper copy, then sign it and post it back.
- Lloyds accepts transfers from cash ISAs, stocks and shares ISAs, Lifetime ISAs and Innovative Finance ISAs, but an Innovative Finance ISA cannot be transferred online and needs a branch appointment.
- ISA savings from the current tax year must be transferred in full, whereas savings from earlier years can be moved in part.
- A transfer into a Lloyds Fixed Rate Cash ISA has to be made in the first 30 days after opening it, and nothing more can be added after that.
- Lloyds pays interest while an ISA is being transferred in, as long as the money is free to move.
How long a transfer takes
Lloyds lists 15 working days for a transfer from a cash ISA with another provider, and 30 calendar days from a stocks and shares, Innovative Finance or Lifetime ISA. For a transfer out of the Cash ISA Saver or a Fixed Rate Cash ISA, Lloyds says it sends the information and savings within 5 working days of getting the transfer request. gov.uk says ISA transfers should take no longer than 15 working days between Cash ISAs, and 30 calendar days for other types of transfer.
Moving an ISA away from Lloyds
A transfer out of a Lloyds cash ISA has to include all of the savings made in the current tax year. Lloyds says it does not charge for transfers, although a Fixed Rate Cash ISA transferred during its term loses interest. Transferring the 1 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA loses 90 days of tax-free interest and the 2 Year loses 180 days, so you may get back less than you first invested. You can move a Cash ISA from Lloyds to another provider at any time. Ask the new provider to arrange the transfer: if you take the money out yourself, it leaves the ISA and paying it in again uses your allowance. A fixed rate ISA usually charges for leaving before the end of its term. See how ISA transfers work.
Transfer details checked on Lloyds' own website on 9 October 2026.
Is the Lloyds ISA flexible?
3 of Lloyds' 5 adult Cash ISAs are flexible: Limited Access ISA, Club Lloyds Advantage ISA Saver and Cash ISA Saver. With a flexible ISA you can take money out and put it back in the same tax year without using more of your allowance.
