Transferring an ISA to or from Metro Bank
All 5 of Metro Bank's adult Cash ISAs accept transfers in from other providers.
How to move an ISA to Metro Bank
- You can start a transfer by calling Metro Bank or visiting a store.
- You can open an Instant Access Cash ISA in a store or in the Metro Bank app, but transferring in previous years' funds is done at a local store.
- Metro Bank takes transfers from cash ISAs and stocks and shares ISAs held with other providers; for the Fixed Rate Cash ISA, a stocks and shares ISA transfer form is completed in store.
- You can transfer in as many previous years' funds as you like, and this will not affect this year's ISA subscription amount.
- On the Fixed Rate Cash ISA, interest starts from the date the transfer form was signed, or from the day funds are received for notice accounts and stocks and shares ISAs.
- You can subscribe to only one Metro Bank ISA in a tax year, and to subscribe to another, you ask Metro Bank to transfer your current year's subscription to a new one.
How long a transfer takes
For the Fixed Rate Cash ISA, you need to start the transfer within 7 days of opening the account and complete it within 30 days. gov.uk says ISA transfers should take no longer than 15 working days between Cash ISAs, and 30 calendar days for other types of transfer.
Moving an ISA away from Metro Bank
You can transfer some or all of your previous years' Metro Bank Cash ISA subscriptions. If you withdraw money from a flexible Metro Bank Cash ISA and plan to pay it back in the same tax year, you must do so before you transfer or close the ISA. Closing a Fixed Rate Cash ISA or transferring it before the term ends loses 180 days' interest, but if less than that has been earned, the full original deposit is given back or transferred. You can move a Cash ISA from Metro Bank to another provider at any time. Ask the new provider to arrange the transfer: if you take the money out yourself, it leaves the ISA and paying it in again uses your allowance. A fixed rate ISA usually charges for leaving before the end of its term. See how ISA transfers work.
Transfer details checked on Metro Bank's own website on 9 October 2026.
