Transferring an ISA to or from Monzo
None of Monzo's adult Cash ISAs accepts transfers in, so you can only pay in new money.
Transfers into Monzo
- Monzo does not currently accept transfers into its Cash ISAs, so an existing ISA cannot be moved into a Monzo Cash ISA.
- A Monzo current account is required to open a Monzo Cash ISA.
How long a transfer takes
gov.uk says ISA transfers should take no longer than 15 working days between Cash ISAs, and 30 calendar days for other types of transfer.
Moving an ISA away from Monzo
Monzo says it only supports full ISA transfers: transferring a Cash ISA moves and closes all of its Cash ISA Pots at once, while regular Savings Pots are not affected. Closing a Monzo Fixed Rate Cash ISA pot before the maturity date forfeits up to 25% of the total interest for the term, capped at the interest earned so far. That is equivalent to 90 days of interest on a 1 year term, 180 days on a 2 year term and 270 days on a 3 year term. You can move a Cash ISA from Monzo to another provider at any time. Ask the new provider to arrange the transfer: if you take the money out yourself, it leaves the ISA and paying it in again uses your allowance. A fixed rate ISA usually charges for leaving before the end of its term. See how ISA transfers work.
Transfer details checked on Monzo's own website on 9 October 2026.
