Transferring an ISA to or from NatWest
All 3 of NatWest's adult Cash ISAs accept transfers in from other providers.
How to move an ISA to NatWest
- You need a NatWest Cash ISA before you can transfer an ISA in from another provider.
- In the NatWest app or Online Banking, choose the ISA you want to transfer into, go to "Transfer in an ISA", then choose "Transfer ISA from another provider".
- The NatWest support centre says transfers between all types of ISAs are allowed, subject to the account being transferred into accepting transfers in.
- Money from the current tax year must be transferred in full, while any amount can be moved from previous tax years.
- For the Fixed Rate ISA, NatWest must receive an external transfer request by the last date shown in the Information Sheet, with the funds available by the Start Date.
- If a cash ISA transfer is not completed within the expected timeline, NatWest backdates the interest, provided any Fixed Rate ISA transfer request met the key dates on the information sheet.
How long a transfer takes
NatWest lists up to 15 business days for an external transfer from a different provider and up to 30 calendar days for a Stocks and Shares ISA transfer. For a transfer out, NatWest says it carries out the transfer within 5 business days of receiving the instruction from the new ISA manager, or from a date you choose. gov.uk says ISA transfers should take no longer than 15 working days between Cash ISAs, and 30 calendar days for other types of transfer.
Moving an ISA away from NatWest
A NatWest Cash ISA can be moved in full or in part to another ISA manager, but money from the current tax year must be transferred in full. Transferring a fixed NatWest ISA to a different provider before maturity carries an Early Closure Charge, which does not apply to a transfer dated at least the day after the maturity date. You can move a Cash ISA from NatWest to another provider at any time. Ask the new provider to arrange the transfer: if you take the money out yourself, it leaves the ISA and paying it in again uses your allowance. A fixed rate ISA usually charges for leaving before the end of its term. See how ISA transfers work.
Transfer details checked on NatWest's own website on 9 October 2026.
Is the NatWest ISA flexible?
None of NatWest's adult Cash ISAs is a flexible ISA, so money you take out and pay back in counts towards your allowance again.
