How to move an ISA to Virgin Money
- You need to open your Virgin Money ISA before you transfer an ISA from another provider into it.
- Virgin Money's transfer page asks a set of questions, then points you to the best route, which may be online, by post or in a Virgin Money branch.
- A stocks and shares ISA can be transferred in, with the investments cashed in or sold first, but Virgin Money says an Innovative Finance ISA or Junior ISA cannot be transferred.
- Virgin Money accepts full and partial ISA transfers from people aged 18 or over, but only a whole transfer of the current tax year's subscriptions is accepted.
- The 1 Year Fixed Rate Cash E-ISA and Double Take E-ISA each let you pay in up to £20,000 in the current tax year, with no limit on ISA transfers.
- On the 1 Year Fixed Rate Cash E-ISA, Virgin Money must receive all money within 30 days of the account opening date, or the account closes and later deposits are returned.
How long a transfer takes
gov.uk says ISA transfers should take no longer than 15 working days between Cash ISAs, and 30 calendar days for other types of transfer.
Moving an ISA away from Virgin Money
You can transfer out any amount of previous years' subscriptions, and this tax year's subscriptions do not have to move too, but if they do, the full amount must be transferred. On Fixed Rate accounts there is no charge for the transfer itself, but a transfer during the fixed rate period is charged for loss of interest on the amount withdrawn. On the 1 Year Fixed Rate Cash E-ISA, withdrawals within the fixed rate period carry a charge equivalent to 60 days' loss of interest on the amount withdrawn. You can move a Cash ISA from Virgin Money to another provider at any time. Ask the new provider to arrange the transfer: if you take the money out yourself, it leaves the ISA and paying it in again uses your allowance. A fixed rate ISA usually charges for leaving before the end of its term. See how ISA transfers work.
Transfer details checked on Virgin Money's own website on 9 October 2026.
