Transferring an ISA to or from Yorkshire Building Society
All 7 of Yorkshire Building Society's adult Cash ISAs accept transfers in from other providers.
How to move an ISA to Yorkshire Building Society
- If you do not already have an ISA with Yorkshire Building Society, you need to open an account first.
- Existing customers opening an account online can arrange the transfer as part of the application, and new customers can arrange it from the day after the new ISA is set up.
- Yorkshire Building Society uses transfer forms for branch or postal applications, for customers who manage their account by branch or phone, and where the current provider does not allow online transfers.
- Yorkshire Building Society takes transfers from cash ISAs and stocks and shares ISAs, with current tax year savings moved in full and earlier years' savings in full or in part.
- On the fixed rate cash eISAs, Yorkshire Building Society says the money being transferred in must be available straight away.
How long a transfer takes
Yorkshire Building Society's terms say it instructs the other manager within five working days of you getting in touch, then credits your account within three working days of receiving the cash and relevant information. When another manager sends its instruction, Yorkshire Building Society transfers the money within five working days, subject to any withdrawal restrictions on the account. gov.uk says ISA transfers should take no longer than 15 working days between Cash ISAs, and 30 calendar days for other types of transfer.
Moving an ISA away from Yorkshire Building Society
Your new provider needs your 10 digit Yorkshire Building Society account number to arrange the transfer. All or part of the money can be transferred, but if the product terms do not allow a partial transfer, only the whole balance can be moved, which may mean losing some interest. Closing a fixed rate cash eISA early loses 90, 180 or 270 days' interest for the accounts fixed until 31 October 2027, 30 November 2028 and 31 October 2029 respectively. You can move a Cash ISA from Yorkshire Building Society to another provider at any time. Ask the new provider to arrange the transfer: if you take the money out yourself, it leaves the ISA and paying it in again uses your allowance. A fixed rate ISA usually charges for leaving before the end of its term. See how ISA transfers work.
Transfer details checked on Yorkshire Building Society's own website on 9 October 2026.

3 of Yorkshire Building Society's 7 adult Cash ISAs are flexible: Four Access eISA, Easy Access ISA (Issue 2) and Everyday ISA. With a flexible ISA you can take money out and put it back in the same tax year without using more of your allowance.
