Best flexible Cash ISA rates
On 6 October 2026, the highest rate on a flexible Cash ISA in our tables was 5.06% AER, on a 3 year fix, and the highest on a flexible easy access account was 4.86% AER. 56 of the 184 Cash ISAs we track are flexible, ranked below by rate alone. Flexible describes what happens to your allowance, not how quickly you can get at your money: the Access line on each card shows that. Every rate is checked by hand on the provider's own page.

What is a flexible Cash ISA?
gov.uk puts it like this: "If your ISA is 'flexible', you can take out cash then put it back in during the same tax year without reducing your current year's allowance. Your provider can tell you if your ISA is flexible." In our tables, whether an account is flexible comes from the provider's own terms, as recorded in our data.
How much can you put back in?
gov.uk gives an example. With a £20,000 allowance, £10,000 paid in during the tax year and £3,000 taken out, £13,000 can then be paid in if the ISA is flexible: the £10,000 of allowance still unused plus the £3,000 taken out. If the ISA is not flexible, only the £10,000 still unused can be paid in.
Which Cash ISAs are flexible?
56 of the 184 Cash ISAs in our tables are flexible: 35 of 64 easy access, 18 of 114 fixed rate and 3 of 6 notice. Flexibility is set account by account, so two accounts of the same type can differ. 29 of the 64 easy access Cash ISAs are not flexible, and 21 of the 56 flexible ones are fixed rate or notice accounts. Islamic Cash ISAs are compared separately on our Halal ISA page, so they are not counted here.
The Access line on each card shows how the money comes out, and the details show the withdrawal rule. Each card also shows whether the account accepts transfers in, and the Cash ISAs that accept transfers in are ranked on their own page. To compare by type, see the easy access, fixed rate and notice Cash ISAs.
Does the Cash ISA limit change how flexible ISAs work?
No. Flexible ISAs carry on as they do today. The cut to £12,000 a year for savers 64 or under, planned from 6 April 2027, was cancelled in the Budget on 28 October 2026, so the Cash ISA limit stays the full ISA allowance. Putting back money paid in during an earlier tax year does not count as a new payment. Putting back money paid in during the same tax year uses no extra allowance, if your ISA is flexible.

Questions people ask
How do I know if my Cash ISA is flexible?
gov.uk says your provider can tell you if your ISA is flexible. In our tables, each card shows Yes or No under "Flexible", taken from the provider's own terms as recorded in our data.
How many Cash ISAs are flexible?
56 of the 184 Cash ISAs in our tables are flexible: 35 of 64 easy access, 18 of 114 fixed rate and 3 of 6 notice.
Is a flexible Cash ISA the same as an easy access one?
No. Flexible says what happens to your allowance when you put back money you took out. It does not say how or when the money can be taken out, which is shown by the Access line and the withdrawal rule on each card. 29 of the 64 easy access Cash ISAs are not flexible, and 21 of the 56 flexible ones are fixed rate or notice accounts.
Will flexible ISAs still work after April 2027?
Yes. Flexible ISAs carry on, and the planned £12,000 Cash ISA limit was cancelled in the Budget on 28 October 2026. Putting back money paid in during an earlier tax year does not count as a new payment. Putting back money paid in during the same tax year uses no extra allowance if your ISA is flexible. See how a flexible ISA works.
Is my money protected if the provider fails?
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme protects eligible deposits up to £120,000 per person, per banking licence.
